Veterinary Extern - General Practice

Overview An externship experience at an NVA hospital will give students the unique opportunity to understand the day‑to‑day operations of the practice, and to gain valuable hands‑on clinical experience. Uxbridge Veterinary Hospital is a thriving small‑animal practice, 45 minutes N/E of Toronto, with a diverse team of thirty‑six pet‑loving team members including six veterinarians. Responsibilities Gather patient histories Perform physical examinations Create treatment plans Conduct diagnostics Provide dentistry services Observe, assist, or perform surgical procedures Manage medical care of patients Practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients Schedule & Eligibility Externship lengths range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules Externships are available to 3rd and 4th year veterinary students Benefits Travel / Living Expense Stipend: Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a stipend.
