Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join a dynamic and fast-paced healthcare team. This position is critical in providing high-quality care in an acute care setting, specifically within a Level I Trauma Center.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care within the emergency department.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to deliver comprehensive care to patients experiencing trauma, sepsis, chest pain, shortness of breath, strokes, and other critical conditions.
• Administer medications and IV drips as ordered, including TPA and other common medication protocols.
• Read and interpret cardiac strips, ensuring accurate patient monitoring and response to changes in condition.
• Participate in a structured orientation program and successfully complete the required assessments to ensure readiness for practice.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment, adhering to infection control policies and procedures.
• Float to the Observation Unit and freestanding emergency locations as needed.

Qualifications

• Current licenses required for practice as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC); Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) is preferred.
• Recent experience in a Level I or Level II Trauma Emergency Room is required.
• Ability to work effectively within a team and communicate clearly with colleagues and patients.
• Commitment to adhering to department policies, including grooming standards (e.g., artificial nails are not permitted).

Work Environment

This role is set in a high-acuity emergency department with a variety of patient diagnoses. The facility features:

• 20 beds, with 5 dedicated trauma bays and an Observational area with 10 beds.
• A designated Fast Track area with 6 beds and a separate triage area housing 3 triage beds.
• A team of ED physicians and mid-level providers available for patient care.
• In-house security available 24/7 for the safety of staff and patients.

Shifts and Scheduling

Shifts include a variety of hours, with rotations including 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM, and night hours depending on department needs. Weekend and holiday requirements vary as per departmental scheduling. Orientation includes a one-week onboarding followed by shifts at various units to ensure comprehensive training.
