Assistant Professor / Associate Professor – Clinical Practices and Special Education (Grades 7‑12) Position Overview Tenure‑track Faculty in Secondary Teacher Education and Adolescent Special Education. The role requires excellence in teaching, service, advocacy, leadership, and research. Candidates must implement evidence‑based strategies to support diverse learners with disabilities across all subject areas at the secondary level. Responsibilities Teacher, advise student, maintain research & scholarly work, service, committee work, and departmental duties. Requires an on‑campus presence and may include online or remote work. Maintain a teaching load of 18 credits per 9‑month academic year. Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in multiple modalities (on‑campus, online, hybrid). Facilitate off‑campus site visits and support clinically rich, school‑based placements. Maintain an active research agenda, including scholarship, presentations, and grantsmanship. Participate in student recruitment, admissions, and advising. Coordinate departmental operations and support student advisement and placement. Collaborate across departments, schools, and the university to advance interdisciplinary and sponsored initiatives. Engage in program‑level and SOE accreditation. Pursue external funding for research and program innovation. Develop articulation agreements and educational partnerships. Engage in service through committee membership and professional contributions. Assist with hiring, staffing, mentoring, and supervision of part‑time and adjunct faculty. Perform related duties as assigned. Qualifications Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Special Education or a closely related field from an accredited university. Demonstrated expertise in mentoring pre‑ and in‑service teacher development in clinical settings, educational assessment, experiential learning, and project‑based learning. Demonstrated knowledge of best‑practices in urban secondary teacher education and clinical induction practices. Minimum of five years of teaching experience in public secondary schools with diverse populations, including multilingual students. Record of scholarship. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills and ability to work collegially as a team member. Preferred Requirements Commitment to social justice, multi‑modal learning, anti‑racist pedagogies, multilingualism, and culturally responsive pedagogy. Knowledge of Students With Disabilities 7‑12 learning standards and curricula. Ability to teach adult college‑level programs in various modalities (in‑person, hybrid, hyflex, synchronous, asynchronous). Eligibility for H‑1B sponsorship if residing in the United States; not accepting candidates outside the U.S. who require H‑1B.
