Job Description
Job Description
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Make a meaningful impact by supporting educational teams as a Virtual Teacher of the Visually Impaired for the upcoming school year. In this part-time, itinerant contract opportunity, you'll empower school-based staff and help ensure visually impaired students across multiple sites receive the best possible support.
In this role, you'll provide critical expertise to educators who may be less experienced in working with blind and visually impaired students. Your work will focus on building staff knowledge and confidence early in the year with more intensive coaching and support, then gradually taper as staff capacity grows. You’ll play a key part in braille instruction, integrating assistive technology, and promoting instructional accessibility, while augmenting—not replacing—the district’s current team of Teachers of the Visually Impaired.
Qualifications:
- Active Florida Educator Certification (required)
- Experience supporting visually impaired students and school teams
- Strong skills in braille instruction and assistive technology integration
- Ability to collaborate with teachers supporting students with more complex needs
- Previous experience in educational settings preferred
- Must complete fingerprint clearance; status may be transferable if already conducted through an FL school district and the AHCA Clearinghouse
Responsibilities:
- Provide virtual coaching and capacity-building for school staff
- Guide implementation of accessible instructional strategies
- Support consistent braille and assistive tech instruction
- Consult on complex cases and promote district-wide consistency
- Coordinate support across multiple school sites with flexible hours (12-15 per week)
This is a virtual position open to candidates able to deliver expert support remotely. Start August 10, 2026 and help set the tone for a strong and inclusive school year.
