Shipping and Receiving Specialist

The Shipping and Receiving Specialist manages all inbound products from suppliers, ensures accurate inventory control, and oversees domestic shipping activities for the team. This role focuses on maintaining precise counts, identifying defects, organizing materials in the correct locations, and supporting efficient material flow within a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Receive all inbound products from suppliers and verify that quantities match packing lists and purchase orders.
• Inspect incoming materials for damage or defects and escalate any issues following internal procedures.
• Store materials in the correct locations, ensuring items are clearly labeled and organized for easy retrieval.
• Maintain accurate inventory records by performing regular cycle counts and reconciling discrepancies.
• Handle domestic shipping duties, including picking, packing, labeling, and preparing documentation for outgoing shipments.
• Use ERP/MRP systems to update inventory levels, track material movements, and process shipping and receiving transactions.
• Coordinate with internal teams to ensure materials are available when needed and support production schedules.
• Operate material handling equipment, including forklifts, to move, load, and unload materials safely.
• Follow established inventory control procedures to minimize loss, damage, and misplacement of materials.
• Keep the shipping and receiving area clean, safe, and organized to support efficient operations.
• Comply with all company policies and safety guidelines while performing daily tasks.

Essential Skills

• At least 3 years of experience in shipping and receiving.
• Proven experience in inventory management and inventory control.
• Hands-on experience performing cycle counts and resolving inventory discrepancies.
• ERP or MRP system experience for managing inventory and processing transactions.
• Experience with material handling, including safe operation of forklifts.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate counts and defect detection.
• Ability to organize and store materials efficiently in designated locations.
• Capability to manage domestic shipping processes from preparation to dispatch.

Work Environment

This role follows a daytime schedule of 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. You will work in a manufacturing setting alongside a small team of approximately two to three colleagues. The environment emphasizes collaboration and open communication, with a relaxed and approachable culture. You will regularly work with inventory systems, ERP/MRP software, and material handling equipment such as forklifts, while operating in a warehouse or production-support area designed for efficient shipping, receiving, and storage activities.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newburyport, MA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $26.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
