Position Summary and Qualifications

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) is responsible for ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care and coordinating all functions within the unit or department during their assigned shift. Working alongside other management team members, the CNC directs, monitors, and assesses nursing care in line with established policies and procedures, serves as a resource for staff, and exemplifies a commitment to the organization’s vision, mission, and values to foster an exceptional patient experience and clinical outcomes that enhance overall departmental performance.

Key responsibilities in this role include:

  • Assisting with the admission and discharge processes to promote efficient patient flow and high-quality care.
  • Participating in the continuous evaluation of the quality of patient care services in collaboration with the management team.
  • Working with subject matter experts and other managers to cultivate a teamwork-oriented environment that enhances outcomes and service delivery.
  • Embracing a patient-first philosophy and engaging in service recovery when necessary.
  • Facilitating the facility's engagement initiatives by implementing current nursing strategies, including employee rounding and hourly checks.
  • Providing input on interviewing, selecting, and training new staff, as well as recommending and executing actions related to training, conflict resolution, personnel policy adherence, performance evaluations, and disciplinary measures to ensure a competitive organization.
  • Assisting with staff scheduling and managing labor aspects in accordance with patient care needs and productivity standards.
  • Overseeing inventory control and assisting in the management of supplies and equipment.

About the Unit:

  • The Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) is a designated 12-bed short-stay unit specifically for observation patients.
  • Patients will be monitored and managed in the CDU post-operatively or when further medical evaluation is required to determine treatment plans.
  • The unit comprises RNs, CNCs, and a Manager.

Required Qualifications:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 90 days of starting employment.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.
  • NIH Stroke Scale certification.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • No travel is required.
  • A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience is required.

Our facility is an 80+ bed full-service hospital serving Lee’s Summit and surrounding areas. We are supported by over 300 physicians across more than 40 specialties and employ over 500 highly trained staff members along with 60 volunteers. Our services include cardiology, cancer care, endoscopy, emergency services, imaging, neurology, pain management, and pulmonology, among others. We also provide physical therapy, speech-language pathology, occupational therapy, sports medicine, respiratory care, women’s health services, and a variety of surgical options. Our hospital is recognized as a dually-accredited Chest Pain and Primary Stroke Center, with a dedicated team ready to serve our community.
