100% Instructional Duties

• As an instructor for the university primary duties and responsibilities include: teaching in a specific field developing course materials developing and managing syllabi creating lectures and assignments grading student work advising students and holding office hours.
• Prepare for and attend all class case of absence the instructor must make arrangements for a substitute to teach class. Classes should not be canceled.
• Provide instruction throughout the semester usually 2.5 hours/week.
• Develop assignments administer tests evaluate student work provide feedback to students and assign grades.
• Supervise GTAs if necessary.
• Hold regular office hours for students involved in classes taught.
• Adhere to departmental college and university policies.

Required Qualifications
Evaluation of the following requirements will be made through (1) descriptions of work experience and educational experiences in letter of application (2) record of accomplishments and productivity addressed in c.v. and (3) information provided from professional references if requested.

Undergraduate level courses:

1. Masters degree in History of Art
2. Demonstrated knowledge of the History of Art course of interest.
3. Previous teaching experience (classroom or online) at the university/college level.

Graduate level courses:

1. Ph.D. in History of Art or a related field and evidence of research productivity in the field of specialization is required for appointment to teach a course carrying graduate credit.

1. Ph.D. or ABD in History of Art or a related field.

Position Overview
The History of Art Department invites qualified scholars and professionals to apply for part- to full-time positions for the instruction of face-to-face courses. The Instructor is an instructional adjunct faculty position that is not eligible for tenure or promotion in rank. This is a term appointment for the Fall 2026 semester. Renewal will be based upon unit needs and funding as well as performance that meets expectations not to exceed two continuous semesters.

This position is subject to a collective bargaining agreementbetween The University of Kansas and United Academics that UAKU is the exclusive representative for the bargaining unit and that it is their right to be a member or not be a member of a union without fear of personal or professional repercussions.

The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the U.S. prior to the start date of the position.
