Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

Emergency Observation Unit within a Trauma Level III teaching hospital

10-bed unit with an average daily census of 8 patients

Patient population includes chest pain, syncope, and angina cases

RN to patient ratio of 1:5 and CNA ratio of 1:10

12-hour night shift schedule, 7p-7a, 36 hours per week

Weekend rotation every other weekend

No on-call or call-back requirements

Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing

Floating required within Region 1 facilities (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division) as needed within scope of practice

Requirements

Active NC or compact RN license required

BLS and ACLS certifications required

NIHSS certification required (Resource Team requirement)

Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required

Skilled in stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, and drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley)

Experience managing medication drips including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IV fluids

Experience with PCA pumps required

EPIC EMR experience preferred

Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration

Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

Provide direct patient care within a Med/Surg Tele unit supported by a Charge RN, Resource RN, Respiratory Therapy, Hospitalist, and IV/VAT team

Facility recognized as a Chest Pain Center, Stroke Center of Excellence, and Bariatric Center of Excellence

Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation

Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays

Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, with any shortfall added to the end of the contract

Navy scrub color required

Free employee parking provided

Positive team culture including unit book club and group activities

First-time travelers not preferred but will be considered

Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify; local candidates not accepted

Returning employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
