About the Position

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 24-bed PCU/Stepdown unit with a 1:4-5 nurse-to-patient ratio, utilizing virtual nursing support on both day and night shifts
• Care for patients with diagnoses including CHF, pneumonia, sepsis, stroke/TIA, COPD, pulmonary embolism, and acute kidney injury
• Titrate IV drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Heparin, Nicardipine, and Dobutamine
• Monitor and interpret telemetry strips; unit is supported by a monitor tech, with monitors available in each patient room
• Manage respiratory therapy equipment including high-flow oxygen, BiPap, and oxygen titration
• Demonstrate competency in stroke patient care , as this unit serves as the designated stroke floor

• Active RN licensure in good standing
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Must be competent in caring for stroke/TIA patients
• Must be willing to float (first to float per unit policy)
• Must comply with facility fingernail policy - artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments; refusal to remove artificial nails may result in contract termination
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; a valid driver's license will be required at time of submittal to verify distance

• Prior experience in a PCU, stepdown, or intermediate care setting
• Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips in an acute care environment
• Strong teamwork orientation and ability to collaborate with charge nurses, house supervisors, and nurse aides

• Self-scheduling model offering flexibility, with an expected schedule of every 3rd weekend and one additional shift per 6-week period
• Structured unit-specific orientation of 3 shifts on your assigned shift to support a smooth transition into the role
