Cardiology Physician

Ansible Government Solutions, LLC is seeking an experienced Cardiologist to support the National Institutes of Health (NIH) / National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) Cardiology Consult Service in Bethesda, Maryland .

This is a unique opportunity for a Cardiologist interested in a low-volume, consultative clinical environment supporting adult patients and ongoing clinical research at one of the nation's premier biomedical research institutions.

• $275/hour for regular clinical hours
• Monday Friday, 8:00 AM 5:00 PM
• Approximately 2 5 consults per day plus follow-ups
• Adult patients only
• Primarily consultative Cardiology
• No Emergency Department; acute admissions are rare
• Strong clinical support from NPs, rotating Internal Medicine residents, and medical students
• NPs and residents perform initial patient evaluations and prepare documentation for attending review
• After-hours call is primarily remote
• NIH-provided laptop for remote call responsibilities
• In-house weekend moonlighter handles first call, with attending consultation by telephone
• $18/hour for on-call coverage
• Coverage is anticipated over an 18-week period, which does not have to be consecutive
• Medical liability coverage provided

The Cardiologist will support the NIH/NHLBI Cardiology Consult Service and its ongoing clinical research programs. Responsibilities include:

• Initial and follow-up inpatient and outpatient Cardiology consultations
• EKG interpretation
• Holter EKG interpretation
• Cardiac exercise stress test interpretation
• Review of echocardiograms
• Review of advanced cardiovascular imaging
• Review of relevant clinical records
• Remote after-hours Cardiology consultation
• Occasional in-person evaluation while on call, when clinically necessary

The Cardiology Consult Service includes Nurse Practitioners, rotating Internal Medicine residents, and medical students during regular weekday hours. These team members evaluate patients initially and prepare clinical notes following discussion with the attending Cardiologist.

During weekends, an in-house moonlighter provides first-call coverage , with the attending Cardiologist available for subsequent consultation by telephone.

• MD degree
• Board Eligible or Board Certified in Cardiology
• More than 5 years of clinical Cardiology experience
• Current and active medical license
• Demonstrated expertise in clinical Cardiology

The NIH Clinical Center provides a distinctive environment combining clinical medicine and biomedical research. The NHLBI Cardiovascular Branch supports Cardiology consultations across the NIH Clinical Center while conducting research involving cardiovascular disease, diagnostics, therapeutics, and interventions.
