Engineering Technician II (Travel) (PR)

Technical Systems Support Services The Contractor shall perform troubleshooting, tear‑down, repair, refurbishment, overhaul, assembly, testing, and installation services for designated equipment at the request of FAALC Product Divisions or Groups. Labor categories required to provide these services may include Electronics Technicians and Engineering Technicians as necessary to meet specific task requirements. Engineering Technician Services The Contractor shall provide engineering technician services to the various FAALC Product Divisions to help assure that electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment meets serviceability, reliability, and availability requirements. These services may include tasks such as assembling, repairing and refurbishing equipment, components, test fixtures, and prototypes; performing equipment performance analyses and data collection and reporting; and installing equipment and modifications. The Contractor shall complete all tasks in accordance with applicable FAA and FAALC standards, orders, technical instructions, and quality procedures. Equipment Assembly and Repair The Contractor shall assemble and repair electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems, subsystems, and components. Equipment assembly processes may require a combination of design, fabrication, and construction functions for items such as power and signal cables, circuit boards, electrical and mechanical components, test fixtures, and engineering prototypes. Repair processes may include performance analysis, disassembly/assembly, troubleshooting and correction of malfunctions, parts replacement, painting, and composite structure work. All processes shall be performed and documented as specified in the applicable technical documentation. Equipment Performance Analyses and Data Collection The Contractor shall perform equipment and component performance analyses to determine operating characteristics and parameters, aid in fault isolation and identification, and verify equipment functions under variable conditions. The Contractor shall collect and record appropriate engineering data, produce, compile, and present a variety of system data and logistics support information from various sources. Equipment Installation The Contractor shall install electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems, subsystems, components, test fixtures, modifications, and engineering prototypes. Adjustments, testing, and certification functions may also be required. Responsibilities NAVAID antenna and component repair and overhaul. Rotary joint and drive motor troubleshooting and repair. Circuit board testing and repair. Production and repair of electronic cables and wire harnesses; performance analyses and information collection and reporting. Equipment adjustment, testing, and certification. Installation of equipment and components, and modifications. Installation and maintenance of NAS radomes. Structural inspection of towers and tower components up to 750 feet. Maintenance of tower structures and installation of related systems. Physical requirements: moderate lifting, climbing, crawling, kneeling, operating cranes and vehicles. Attend all required training classes, including safety courses. Support preventive and corrective maintenance on FAA and interagency systems. Basic troubleshooting of electronic/electro‑mechanical systems. Prepare assets for shipment to and from field sites and logistics centers. Enter time into the Data Collection and Reporting System daily. Inform crew leads of task status. Work at heights over 50 feet; operate boom lifts and forklifts. Perform corrosion control and prevention. Travel up to 70% and respond to emergency call‑outs. Assist crew leads with scheduling, customer coordination, and training of junior technicians. Assist in project package reviews and provide feedback to internal customers. Qualifications An associate degree in electrical or engineering technology and completion of formal technical training courses (Level II). Successful completion of a physical fitness evaluation with weight limits of 125‑290 lbs. Practical experience in an engineering technician support position, including developing and reviewing documentation and troubleshooting, repairing, assembling, testing, and installing electrical and mechanical systems. Experience in designing, fabricating, assembling, and troubleshooting electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems, subsystems, components, test fixtures, and prototypes. Knowledge of equipment and component adjustment, testing, and certification processes. NACI clearance or ability to obtain Public Trust. Estimated monthly travel of 70%. Valid driver’s license and two unexpired forms of identification (government‑issued primary identification and a secondary form such as a social security card or birth certificate). Desired Qualifications Rope‑repelling or on‑rope work at heights. Specialized knowledge of FAA systems, equipment, procedures, and operations. Experience with preventive maintenance and replacement of tower, radome, and cab glass components. Operation of boom man lifts and motorized forklifts.
