Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Oncology unit position requiring a Chemo (ONS/ONCC) certification and MD or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in a 12-bed oncology unit specializing in Oncology, Thoracic, and Bariatric surgery
• 1:5 patient ratio
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
• Rotating holidays and weekends required
• Block scheduling is not available
• No call required
• Floating required as needed to med/surg/tele units
• Special procedures include chemotherapy administration and chest tube care
• Meditech charting system experience preferred

Requirements

• Active Maryland RN license or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of current, relevant oncology experience required
• BLS certification required
• Chemo (ONS/ONCC) certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Preferred charge nurse experience
• Preferred community hospital experience
• Experience with IV therapy, port access and management, central line and PICC line care
• Experience managing oncologic emergencies such as tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, sepsis, and hemorrhage preferred
• Experience with chemotherapy administration, monitoring, and body fluid handling post-chemo
• Experience caring for patients with brain, breast, lung, and pancreatic cancers, and multiple myeloma preferred
• Skills in chest tube care, colostomy/ileostomy management, Foley catheter insertion, and wound care preferred
• Experience with pain management including IV push narcotics and PCA pump management preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct oncology nursing care including chemotherapy administration, symptom management, and psychosocial support
• Manage oncologic emergencies and post-surgical care for thoracic and bariatric patients
• Must work two of the three winter holidays
• No radius rule for this facility; local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• RTO requests reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis
• Smoke-free facility
• First-time travelers will be considered depending on experience
