About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical - Neuro Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a relevant specialty is required License: Permanent license in-hand required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Neuro experience including Neuro-PIN, trauma, neurosurgery, stroke, and other neuro-specific diagnoses Description: Candidates must have strong Epic skills. Patient ratio will be 1:5-6. The unit primarily handles diagnoses such as CVA, TIA, and AMS, in addition to general medical diagnoses. Special procedures in the unit include neuro surgeries and care for Neuro PIN patients. Travel experience required. Previous charge experience is preferred. Additional skills required include blood product administration, central line blood draw, chest tube management, and CVA care. Candidates should also be proficient in the interpretation of arterial blood gases and dysrhythmias. Experience with management of respiratory support devices such as BiPAP/CPAP and high flow nasal cannula is necessary. Ability to perform phlebotomy and peripheral line care is essential. Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and management of surgical drains is required. The role will involve isolating precautions as necessary and participation in rapid response teams. Weekend coverage every other weekend is required. Interdisciplinary support includes services such as physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, and pharmacy.
