RN - MedSurg


Job Details:


• Work in a Rehabilitation Unit serving patients with stroke, neuro, TBI, MS, Parkinson's, LVAD, Oncology, Trachs, and Transplant conditions
• Patient ratios: RN Day shift 1:4-5, Night shift 1:6-7
• Weekend rotation every third weekend as needed
• No on-call responsibilities
• Holiday rotation every other as needed
• Cannot work more than 60 hours per week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts per fatigue policy
• 8-hour orientation provided
• Travelers are first to float to all other MedSurg areas including Inpatient Boarding with a 1:4 ratio
• Required certification: BLS
• 1 year of experience required; first-time travelers accepted
• Required skills include: IV pump and IV insertion, central/PICC and midline catheter care, tube feeding pump, GI/PEG/NG tube management and care, NG tube insertion, wound vac/wound care, indwelling catheter insertion and care, trach care and suctioning, laryngectomy care, drain care, and management of behavior issues
• Charting systems and equipment include: EPIC (preferred), Alaris, and Pyxis
• Lifts used: Hoyer lifts, ceiling lifts, and sit-to-stand lifts
• Scrub color: Any - no camouflage, no denim, no Crocs; appearance guidelines provided at orientation
• Free parking available in designated areas
• Unit support includes: charge nurse, health unit coordinator (6:00 AM - 10:30 PM), hospitalist 24/7, respiratory therapy 24/7, and phlebotomy 24/7


Facility:


This facility is a Level III Trauma Center and Magnet-designated hospital with 933 beds, recognized as a Comprehensive Stroke Center. The rehabilitation unit features 45 inpatient rehabilitation beds and holds CARF accreditation with a Stroke Certified Program. The facility provides Physical Medicine Rehabilitation services and maintains robust 24/7 support services including hospitalist coverage, respiratory therapy, and phlebotomy.
