Secondary Mathematics Teacher (Grades 6-12)
Position type: Full-time, Certified Secondary Mathematics Teacher Start date: Aug. 2026 Application deadline: Open until filled
Position summary: Teach high school-level mathematics courses (Algebra I/II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Statistics, and/or Integrated Math) to diverse learners; plan standards-based lessons; assess student progress; collaborate with colleagues and families to support student success; integrate technology and career-ready skills.
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction to secondary students in mathematics.
- Differentiate instruction to meet varied learning needs, including ELLs and students with IEPs/504 plans.
- Create and implement lesson plans, assessments, and formative checks to monitor learning.
- Maintain accurate records (grades, attendance, behavior) in district systems (Frontline/other SIS).
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians and colleagues regarding student progress.
- Participate in departmental, grade-level, and school-wide professional development and meetings.
- Support school extracurricular activities and student supervision duties as assigned.
- Contribute to curriculum development, data analysis, and continuous improvement efforts.
Required qualifications:
- Valid state secondary teaching license/certification in Mathematics (Grade 6-12 or 9-12 as required by state).
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or related field (Master's preferred).
- Demonstrated classroom teaching experience at the secondary level (or strong student teaching practicum).
- Strong content knowledge and ability to teach Algebra, Geometry, and higher-level math.
- Proficiency using instructional technology and digital learning platforms.
- Effective communication, classroom management, and collaborative skills.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree in Education or Mathematics.
- Experience with standards-based grading, Common Core or state standards, and data-driven instruction.
- Experience with blended/remote learning and educational software (e.g., Google Classroom, Canvas, Desmos).
- Endorsement or coursework in special education, ELL, or AP math instruction.
Working conditions:
- Typical secondary school schedule; occasional evenings for meetings, events, or parent conferences.
- On-site instruction; potential for hybrid/remote responsibilities per district policy.
- Physical requirements consistent with classroom teaching.
Compensation:
- Salary according to district/WTCS salary schedule; benefits include health insurance, retirement, and paid leave.
