Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Description

Job Summary:
The PACU Registered Nurse provides specialized post-anesthesia care to patients recovering from surgery, ensuring safety and stability during their immediate recovery phase. They monitor vital signs, manage patient pain, and collaborate with healthcare teams to facilitate smooth transitions from anesthesia to normal consciousness.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patient condition continuously and document recovery progress.
• Administer medications and interventions to manage pain and nausea.
• Monitor vital signs and respond promptly to any abnormalities.
• Collaborate with surgical teams to coordinate patient discharge procedures.
• Educate patients and families about post-operative care instructions.
• Maintain accurate and complete documentation of clinical assessments and interventions.

Qualifications:

• Valid registered nurse (RN) license in good standing.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Proven experience in PACU or post-anesthesia care units.
• Strong knowledge of anesthesia protocols and recovery procedures.
• Excellent assessment and critical thinking skills.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
