This role also guides entry-level staff on routine procedures and serves as a point of contact for basic troubleshooting and problem resolution. This position is for a first shift.What You'll Be Doing:Accession, sort, label, store, and prepare clinical specimens for testing or shipmentMaintain freezers, specimen inventories, supplies, compounds, and control materials as assignedIdentify errors and potential specimen-management issues, resolving routine problems or escalating them to senior staffGuide entry-level employees on department procedures and assist with onboarding new team membersRespond to after-hours alarms and other job-critical situations as requiredSupport laboratory safety, quality, and 6S requirements and initiativesCommunicate clearly, accurately, and promptly with cross-functional stakeholdersPerform work in accordance with company procedures and applicable regulatory requirementsWhat We Are Looking For:A high school diploma or equivalent is requiredAt certain CAP/CLIA laboratory locations, a bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology is requiredSix months of related experience is preferred; the internal job description does not specify a required number of years of experienceBasic knowledge of internal systems and procedures, with the demonstrated ability to navigate and resolve routine challengesWorking knowledge of specimen accessioning, shipment, storage, inventory maintenance, and problem-resolution proceduresBasic computer skillsOther equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be accepted in lieu of degreeThe Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Needed for This Role:Ability to accurately identify, sort, label, and manage clinical specimensAbility to maintain effective reporting procedures and control workflowAbility to recognize errors and escalate potential issues appropriatelyClear and timely written and verbal communication skillsAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers, clients, and cross-functional stakeholdersCommitment to continuing education through self-study, training sessions, and meetingsWhat We Offer You:We put our employees at the center of everything we do and are committed to providing them, and their families, with benefits that meet their diverse and changing needs. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time). Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.
