Responsibilities:

• Shipping and receiving by unloading and loading back warehouses and trucks.
• Picking Up building materials from Vendors throughout the metro area.
• Sorting and Labeling incoming materials in the back warehouse
• Removing trash from back areas daily to keep storage areas clean and tidy.
• Preparing orders by processing requests, pulling orders, packing boxes, and transporting packages for returns/shipping OR client’s homes
• Sorting and placing warehouse and staging showroom furnishings and items, as directed by management.
• Maintaining inventory controls by keeping back stock shelves tidy and well organized
• Preparing packages for mailing/shipping; returns should remain in the warehouse for at most 7 days.
• Ensuring a clean and safe working environment in the warehouse and showroom
• Stay proficient with computer software, including Builder Trend, Word and Excel.
• Can lift to 100 pounds routinely. Construction and décor items are heavy.
• Oversee all products leaving the warehouse to ensure the accuracy of shipments and damages.  Checking all contents inside boxes for damages and correct items is mandatory; review with Designers to make sure they are updated.
• Delivery to Clients homes and garages of merchandise. Set up furniture and other items as directed by the Design Team.
• Client home visits as instructed by management to maintain a clean work environment.
• House and Floor Prep work for construction crews.
• Help team install minor cabinet hardware, bath hardware, drapery, artwork, and accessories as directed by management; if installing product over 12 ft, please request a second crew member from Poonam’s staff or trade for safety.
• Jobsite clean-up when visiting job sites is a must; take a look around when you arrive, to ensure you leave it clean.

Skills and Qualities:

1.  Communication.   Warehouse/Showroom/Client Technician involves interacting with employers, coworkers, and clients, requiring engagement with people in person, on the phone, by email, by letter, or any other means people can communicate.  A positive attitude is necessary at Poonams By Design; you must have a professional attitude and not bring personal issues into workplaces. 

2.  Computer Literacy and Technology Skills. At Poonams, you must have a basic understanding of how to use a computer and knowledge of specific applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Spreadsheets.

3.  Teamwork. The ability to work in a team is vital in the warehouse profession, and you will make a better employee with this skill set. You should be able to emphasize your ability to work with colleagues to accomplish tasks. Working with a team will help you work and interact professionally with others at Poonams, both at the showroom and job sites. 

4.  Problem-solving Skills. The ability to solve problems using analysis and reasoning skills to solve difficult problems is a must at Poonams as this is a fast-moving environment.

5.  Dependability. Limit socialization during your shift. A fun work environment is encouraged, but professional standards are expected to remain in the workplace. Tasks given by the management must be completed in detail and communicated back as completed.  Open tasks and work orders cause delays and unforeseen stresses for clients and team members.  If client follow-up is necessary after a job site visit, follow through. There are no ifs, and, or buts to this rule; disciplinary actions or termination will follow if clients are left without follow-up or follow-through.

6.  Flexibility. To succeed as a Warehouse/Showroom/Client Technician, you need to be flexible and work across many departments. You also need the ability and willingness to handle a flexible work environment in various and ever-changing warehouse environments. When flexible, you can quickly move around the work setting and make your employer and colleagues happy.

7.  Learning Skills.   Warehouse/Showroom/Client technicians must acquire learning skills to expand their skill set and knowledge and improve on the job. They need to be fast at learning about specific types of materials, equipment, etc., for better professional achievements.

8.  Punctuality. Working on time is essential in all professions, especially at Poonams and this position, so productivity levels can stay high. 

9.  Decision-making Skills. It is essential to be able to make decisions effectively when you are working in a warehouse and at job sites. The ability to make quick decisions requires the implementation of critical thinking and problem-solving skills together. If decisions will delay schedules or cause trade issues, please inform management immediately for resolution.

10.  Organization.   Warehouse/Showroom/Client Technicians must be as organized as possible, as they will likely be tasked with taking inventory of products. The warehouse worker should be able to manage or arrange products according to the standards of his/her employer. Organizational skills will help you keep track of items and their locations, and you will be able to recognize any inconsistency, set up deliveries, and maintain control of products at job sites.  Please document all tasks and requests and keep track of all issues in a notebook or computer. 

11.  Accuracy. Being accurate at work helps avoid errors that might cost the company a lot to fix. While being correct, you can also apply speed for better performance. You can work fast, but make sure that you double-check your work to ensure accuracy.

12.  Self-Discipline. Self-disciplined workers are trusted to work independently and should be able to work with minimal supervision. Part of self-discipline includes the ability to come to work on time, stick to duties, and handle necessary tasks without regular command from the management.

13.  Integrity. Poonam By Design does not tolerate theft. If theft occurs, it could result in termination and charges filed with the police.  Must have the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles. 

14.  Prioritization Skills. Your ability to prioritize assigned duties will help you when confronted with multiple tasks that must be completed at a set time with little or no error recorded. This skill set is dominant when packing the delivery trucks, scheduling, and keeping appointment times for clients, inspectors, and deliveries. In such a situation, you may be asked to abandon whatever you are doing momentarily and help with more pressing tasks to meet the deadline. But please go back to your task and complete it before being pulled into a pressing task. Therefore, organizational skills are a must.

15. Professional attire: No blue jeans, faded or ripped jeans, or worn or faded shirts or hats; no T-shirts; Button-up shirts and polo shirts only; dark jeans or black jeans or dress pants only; clean work boots or dark sneakers are ok.  No flip flops or open sandals; Personal hygiene is necessary as you are in contact with co-workers, clients, and trades.  Daily bathing, combing hair, odor control, brushing teeth, and other daily grooming are required.
