Medical Assistant

Assist in the delivery of primary health care and patient care management in a fast-paced clinic environment. This role involves performing nursing and administrative duties, preparing patients for examinations and treatments, and ensuring all necessary instruments and supplies are ready and sterilized. You will also be responsible for taking patient vital signs, reviewing medications and allergies, entering information into the EMR system, and assisting physicians or PAs with medical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the delivery of primary health care and patient care management.
• Perform nursing and administrative duties.
• Prepare patients for examination and treatment.
• Take patient vital signs, review medications and allergies, and enter all health questionnaire information into the EMR system (WebChart).
• Prepare exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies.
• Help room patients.
• Prepare and maintain supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization.
• Assist physicians or PAs in preparing for medical procedures.
• Verify all patients by DOB and full name.
• Perform procedures and accompanying paperwork.
• Promote office discharge process by scheduling requested testing, outside physician appointments, writing or entering required lab orders and prescriptions, and providing all information to patients with instructions or faxing orders/prescriptions to the appropriate facility or pharmacy.
• Triage telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse practitioner.
• Restock examination rooms weekly.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in taking patient vital signs.
• Experience with patient care and insurance billing.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credentials.
• Ability to perform blood collection and phlebotomy.
• Proficiency in using EMR systems (WebChart).
• Excellent patient care/customer service skills.
• Ability to work calmly and effectively in a busy or stressful situation.
• Adherence to all policies for safety, attendance, punctuality, and personal appearance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Completion of MA schooling.
• MA certification in good standing (CMA, CCMA, RMA, AAMA, NHA, etc.).
• Experience in rheumatology or internal medicine.
• Experience in pediatrics.

Work Environment

The hours for this role are from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with the possibility of starting as early as 7:00 AM depending on patient lab needs. No weekend work is required. The primary location is in Greenwood, but occasional travel to Noblesville for coverage may be needed. A six-week training program is provided to ensure you are well-prepared for your responsibilities.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $24.00/hr.
