Job Description
Embark on an Exceptional Nursing Journey in the NICU!

Job Description:


- Unit Overview:
- Level 3 NICU with 21 beds and 4 beds in PICU
- Pediatric Med/Surg Unit with 8 beds

- Certifications Required:
- BLS
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- PALS and STABLE preferred

- Patient Ratios:
- NICU: 1 to 1 or 1 to 3
- PICU: 1 to 1 or 1 to 2
- Pediatric Unit: 1 to 1 or 1 to 4

- Charting System:
- Cerner EMR

- Team Environment:
- Charge Nurse nearly always present in NICU; not always in Pediatric Unit
- No Nurse Aides available
- IV Team not available
- Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy available 24/7

- Shifts & Scheduling:
- 12-hour night shifts (7 PM to 7 AM)
- Self-scheduling primarily
- Every other weekend requirement

- Floating Expectations:
- Float from NICU to Nursery and Pediatric Units
- Mother Baby Unit floating only for those with that experience

- Orientation:
- Floor-specific orientation: 2-3 shifts for NICU and 2 shifts for Pediatrics

- Common Diagnoses & Patient Types:
- Infants 23 weeks and above, cooling experience preferred
- Feeders and Growers cases
- Comfort with high-frequency oscillators and vents

- Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience
- Previous travel experience not required

- Cancellation Policy:
- Hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment, and 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks
