Job Description\n American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care for a travel nursing job in Charlottesville, Virginia.Job Description & Requirements\n \n Specialty: PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care\n Discipline: RN\n Start Date: 10/12/2026\n Duration: 13 weeks\n 48 hours per week\n Shift: 12 hours, rotating\n Employment Type: Travel\n \n Assignment Overview\n \n Shift: Rotating, 4x12hrs\n Hours: 48 hrs/wk\n Start Date: Oct 12, 2026\n Length: 13 weeks\n Openings: 1\n Description\n American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Pediatric ICU position requiring BLS, PALS, and at least 2 years of PICU experience.Details\n \n Work in the Pediatric ICU (PICU) with potential cross-coverage to Pediatric CVICU\n 13-week assignment with October start date\n Rotating day and night shifts (4x12 hours), 7:00-19:00 or 19:00-7:00\n Scheduled for 36 or 48 hours per week\n 3 weekends required per six-week schedule\n Required to work 2 of the 3 winter holidays\n May float to NICU and Acute Care Pediatrics based on staffing needs\n 1:2 patient ratio\n Uses Epic EMR\n Requirements\n \n Active VA or Compact RN license (pending license accepted, must be in hand by the Wednesday before start)\n BLS and PALS certifications required\n Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required, including 2 years of charge nurse experience\n Epic EMR experience required\n BSN preferred\n Trauma Level I experience preferred\n Peds cardiac experience a plus\n Proficiency in respiratory care skills including ventilator management, ETT/NT suctioning, tracheostomy care, and ABG interpretation\n Experience with IV therapy, central line management, and administration of blood products\n Experience with emergency medications, vasopressors, and pediatric dosage calculations\n Experience with hemodynamic monitoring and dysrhythmia management\n Experience with neurologic monitoring including EVD and ICP management\n Two professional references required\n Additional Information\n \n Provide direct nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients in a high-acuity ICU setting\n Must float within scope of practice as needed to support unit staffing needs\n Up to 16 non-billable hours of specialty-specific modules completed during orientation\n Maximum of 40 hours of RTO approved per 13-week contract, with no additional time off approved after offer acceptance\n No time off approved during the first 2 weeks of the contract\n Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed prior to submission\n Previous UVA Health permanent staff or internal/external travelers must have at least 1-year separation and leadership approval to be considered\n External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return once this threshold is reached\n No radius restriction applies to this position\n \n \n American Traveler Job ID #P-756479.
