General Dentist

The position at VASTLHCS requires proficiency and productivity in all areas of General Dentistry including restorative, prosthodontics, endodontics, periodontics, and oral surgery. The position requires excellent diagnostic skills and the ability to triage, diagnose, and manage a broad spectrum of urgent and chronic dental problems in a patient population with a high percentage of medically compromised individuals. General Dentist performs duties and responsibilities in the Dental Service. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Function as a full team member of the interdisciplinary team serving patients at St. Louis VA Medical Center. Patient population includes medically compromised, outpatients, and inpatients.
• Provide complete range of dental care to patients including removable and fixed prosthodontics, periodontics, oral surgery, restorative dentistry, endodontics, and restoration of implants. Ensure follow-up clinic visits for existing dental problems.
• Document assessments and plans of care for each patient in accordance with policies and procedures. Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure continuity of patient care.
• Collaborate and act as a patient advocate. Maintain knowledge of new and current clinical methods.
• Maintain all required licensures and compliance with required trainings.

Work Schedule: 7:00am - 3:30pm Monday - Friday

Pay Schedule: The salary range listed in this announcement is a Base-Line Salary ($180,000-$245,000) range estimate for a full-time work schedule. Starting salary will be set based on locality (which may include a special pay rate depending upon location), as well as FT, PT or Intermittent employment.

Physical Requirements: In accordance with VA Directive and Handbook 5019. The Physical requirements of this position include the following tasks which may be performed intermittently: lifting of up to 10 lbs., sitting (4 hours), standing (2 hours), walking (2 hours), bending/stooping (1 hour), twisting (1/2 hour), simple grasping (4 hours), fine manipulation (6 hours), reaching above the shoulder (1/2 hour), and operating machinery (1/2 hour).
