La Posada is looking for a painter to join our Remodel and Maintenance team.Why is La Posada the right place to expand your career?Excellent work/life balanceGuaranteed 40 hrs. per weekMonday-Friday work schedule80% of jobs are done indoorsPaid Time Off401(k) with company matchExcellent health insuranceMileage incentive program if you live over 15 miles awayCompetenciesApply primers or sealers to prepare new surfaces, such as bare wood or metal, for finish coats.Apply paint, stain, varnish, enamel, and other finishes to equipment, buildings, bridges, and/or other structures, using brushes, spray guns, or rollers.Calculate amounts of required materials and estimate costs, based on surface measurements and/or work orders.Read work orders or receive instructions from supervisors or homeowners in order to determine work requirements.Cover surfaces with drop cloths or masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting.Fill cracks, holes, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers, using caulking guns or putty knives.Erect scaffolding and swing gates, or set up ladders, to work above ground level.Remove fixtures such as pictures, door knobs, lamps, and electric switch covers prior to painting.Wash and treat surfaces with oil, turpentine, mildew remover, or other preparations, and sand rough spots to ensure that finishes will adhere properly.Mix and match colors of paint, stain, or varnish with oil and thinning and drying additives in order to obtain desired colors and consistencies.Remove old finishes by stripping, sanding, wire brushing, burning, or using water and/or abrasive blasting.Select tools and finishes for surfaces to be covered, considering durability, ease of handling, methods of application, and customers' wishes.Smooth surfaces, using sandpaper, scrapers, brushes, steel wool, and/or sanding machines.Polish final coats to specified finishes.Waterproof buildings, using waterproofers and caulking.Cut stencils, and brush and spray lettering and decorations on surfaces.Spray or brush hot plastics or pitch onto surfaces.Applies paints, stains, surface preparatory materials, and undercoating materials to a variety of surfaces, as appropriate, according to Material Safety Data Sheets within established hazardous materials guidelines.Identifies, safely handles, and appropriately disposes of paints, stains, preparatory and undercoating materials, and other hazardous materials.Participates in additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor, aligned with qualifications, and can be reasonably expected to be completed with minimal orientation.Reasonable Accommodations Statement To accomplish this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation, each essential function satisfactorily.
