Are you passionate about design, engineering, and building the systems that power communities? We're seeking a Distribution Designer to join a growing team supporting a major utility provider. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with distribution design experience who want to work on meaningful infrastructure projects while growing their expertise in utility engineering and power delivery.

You'll collaborate with experienced professionals, gain exposure to large-scale electrical distribution projects, and play a key role in designing reliable power systems that serve homes and businesses throughout the region.

What You'll Do

As a Distribution Designer, you'll contribute to the planning, design, and maintenance of electrical distribution systems while developing expertise in industry standards, utility operations, and engineering best practices.

Key responsibilities include:

• Prepare and update electrical distribution and roadway design drawings, specifications, calculations, and construction packages.
• Gather and analyze field data, photographs, and engineering information to support project design and execution.
• Perform technical field inspections and assessments of electrical distribution assets, including poles, lighting systems, pad-mounted equipment, and related infrastructure.
• Conduct system inventories, audits, permitting activities, and joint-use evaluations.
• Utilize tools such as laptops, tablets, GPS devices, and industry software to collect and manage project data.
• Support engineering studies and maintain project documentation, databases, and reports.
• Collaborate with internal teams, utility representatives, clients, and regulatory agencies to ensure project success.
• Develop knowledge of utility communication infrastructure, including telephone and cable facilities.
• Assist with project quality, constructability reviews, and compliance with industry standards and safety requirements.

What You'll BringRequired Qualifications

• Experience in electric distribution drafting and design.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar design software.
• Working knowledge of power distribution systems, utility design, distribution engineering, or power delivery.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Ability and willingness to perform field work as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with ArcFM.
• Experience with Pole Foreman (PoleForman) software.
• Familiarity with utility construction standards and engineering best practices.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Eagerness to learn and grow within the utility engineering industry.
• Reliable transportation and ability to pass an MVR screening.

Work Environment

This position will initially be remote, with approximately 25% field visits required. As operations expand in the Greater Allentown area , team members will transition to a hybrid work schedule. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Allentown, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $36.06/hr.
