Travel RN - Telemetry - Progressive Care Unit

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring strong ventilator experience and a Missouri or compact RN license.

Job Details

• 13-week travel assignment on a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at a tertiary care hospital,
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 18:45-7:15,
• Patient ratio of 1:4, with occasional flexing to 1:6,
• Requires 8 weekend shifts within Saint Luke's 6-week schedule (combination of Fri/Sat/Sun),
• Patient population includes pulmonary stepdown, intermediate care, ventilated/trach, COPD, and high acuity pulmonary patients,
• Cares for patients requiring cardiac telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and rapid response/code team involvement,
• Performs feeding tube care, pre/post hemodialysis management, and renal failure care,
• Provides IV therapy including port access, blood product administration, central/peripheral line and PICC line care, and IV starts,
• Manages cardiac drips (titration required) and heparin protocols; PCA administration,
• Cares for neurological/psychiatric patients including CVA and traumatic brain injury cases,
• Performs respiratory care including ventilator management, chest tube care, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy management,
• Utilizes endobronchial valves and ventilator equipment specific to this unit,
• No on-call requirements,
• Regular floating required between departments, units, and facilities as needed,
• Charting completed in Epic,

Job Requirements

• Active RN license - Missouri or compact required, and Kansas license or compact also required due to floating needs,
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required,
• Minimum 2 years of recent specialty experience, including a full year in-specialty within the past 12 months with no employment gaps greater than 90 days,
• Strong ventilator experience required,
• Epic charting experience preferred,
• Teaching hospital and Level I Trauma experience preferred,
• Previous charge experience preferred,
• Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility,
• 2 professional references required (one supervisor-level or above, one may be a charge RN, both from within the past year),
• SSN and finalized RTO/scheduling requests required at time of consideration,

• Located at a 5-time Magnet-designated, teaching, Level 1 Trauma tertiary care hospital with 456 staffed beds,
• Navy scrub color required,
• No local candidates accepted within 75-mile radius,
• RTO limited to a maximum of 7 days, must be finalized at time of consideration with no additional requests after offer or onsite,
• No travel partners accepted,
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply,
• Employees who were previously permanent staff at BJC or Saint Luke's must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler,
• Applicants with 18+ months of prior tenure require a 3-month break in service before reapplying,
