Your work comes to life in our world-class steel, which is used to make products in nearly every industry, including infrastructure, automotive, and appliances.ResponsibilitiesPartner with operations to analyze, troubleshoot, and improve the steel production processes, ensuring consistent product qualityLead and support projects focused on safety, quality, yield, and cost improvementsUse data driven problem solving to optimize operations and decision makingCollaborate with engineers, operators, and leadership to identify opportunities for innovation and process control improvementsSupport continuous product development/improvement projects with the Product MetallurgistProvide technical support, including product and operational information for SDI Sales and SDI CustomersReview and investigate claims with the production team and the Metallurgical Service Engineers and customersContribute to long term vision of the Butler plant by driving continuous improvement and best practices and helping with ISO/IATF certification activitiesQualificationsRequired BS degree or equivalent in metallurgy, materials science, or related engineering fieldHighly effective communication and collaboration skills for a team-based environmentStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to apply metallurgical principles to real-world productionPassion for innovation, continuous improvement and hands-on problem solvingTravel Requirements - some travel is necessary to visit customers, attend conferences, attend meetings at other SDI locations, etc. This role is full time, onsite in Butler, IN, other than travel opportunities.PreferredExperience in steelmaking, metals, or heavy manufacturing Steel Dynamics, Inc., and all affiliated entities are equal opportunity employers.
