Senior Medication Support & Fulfillment Specialist - Mail Order Pharmacy, Sign-On Bonus!

Position Summary The Senior Medication Support & Fulfillment Specialist is responsible for providing pharmacy services within the context of the mail order pharmacy offering traditional and specialty medication patient support and fulfillment following safe and best practice standards. Key duties include reviewing patient profiles for duplication of therapy, processing prescription orders, resolving insurance and/or billing issues, and preparing orders for final pharmacist review. The specialist ensures adherence to URAC guidelines and Health Plan performance guarantees, meeting key metrics such as call response time, dispensing accuracy, timely shipping, and overall patient/client experience. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the pharmacist and/or management team to deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered pharmacy services. Essential Responsibilities / Duties Patient Medication and Client Support Manage and support patient medication prescription profiles. Provide outbound therapy/medication adherence check‑ups and process refills to prevent gaps. Conduct medication reconciliation, review for duplication, and medication synchronization. Ensure timely filling, renewal, and refilling of prescriptions to improve compliance. Follow applicable Federal and State laws and regulations, including HIPAA, to protect patient privacy. Patient Engagement Encourage patients to update contact and mailing information. Use tools and applications to deliver a continuum of medication adherence support with compassion and care. Support patients by providing friendly, courteous, and efficient service. Maintain ongoing patient engagement to support pharmacy utilization and growth. Apply medication fulfillment competencies for central fill, traditional, and specialty prescriptions. Personnel Responsibilities Build and maintain relationships with patients, providers, care teams, and ancillary support to sustain efficient services. Maintain professional competency through National Technician certification, continuing education, and training. Adhere to departmental policies, maintain confidentiality, keep a clean work environment, and follow infection control and safety procedures. Support pharmacy relationships to ensure seamless transition of patient care. Operational Responsibilities Navigate patient EMR to answer questions and provide documentation for prior authorizations. Communicate with providers, managers, supervisors, and Pharmacy Patient Liaisons in a timely, professional manner. Resolve high‑level patient care issues and engage managers or clinicians when necessary. Demonstrate problem‑solving skills, resourcefulness, and the ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment. Train and support new team members in day‑to‑day operations. Education & Certifications High school diploma or equivalent. Massachusetts Registered Pharmacy Technician required. Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) required. Experience Minimum of 4 years progressively responsible experience in a pharmacy setting. Knowledge and Skills Positive, energetic, and supportive disposition. Effective interpersonal and communication skills with hospital staff, patients, and providers. Strong operational, critical thinking, analytical, and strategic planning skills. Knowledge of pharmacy licensing requirements and compliance standards. Experience with inventory control systems and pharmacy automation. Ability to introduce and sustain change, analyze performance, and implement operations improvements. Experience in outpatient and inpatient pharmacy services. Data‑driven decision making for performance improvement. Delegation and performance evaluation skills. Judgment, tact, and diplomacy. Presentation and content development abilities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and web browsers. Adherence to BMC’s RESPECT behavioral standards. Compensation Range $24.04 – $33.65 per hour (based on minimum qualifications). Total compensation includes benefits, bonuses, 403(b) match, paid time off, and other perks.
