Holiday coverage is required. Any requested time off during holidays must remain flexible to accommodate staffing demands. Shift options of 36 or 48 hours per week are available. Availability is required during the first two weeks of orientation. Floating to other Med/Surg units is required. Every other weekend work is mandatory. Must be willing to collaborate with a variety of staff, including RN, LPN, and Techs. Cannot guarantee or approve block scheduling at this time. Candidates must provide an estimated time of arrival for their pending Michigan RN License. BLS certification is accepted if pending; confirmation of willingness to obtain is required. Staffing ratio is typically 1:5-6 for night shifts. Ratios may flex to 7 or 8 patients, but the RN will be paired with an LPN for support in these instances. This unit cares for a diverse mix of patients, including those with general medical diagnoses. A wide variety of specialty surgeries, including gastrointestinal, urological, and gynecological, are performed. Additional floating to different Med/Surg units may occur based on needs. All staff members see a good mix of medical patients and specialty care situations. Expect a collaborative interdisciplinary support team, including IV teams, physical therapy, and respiratory services. Daily patient census is approximately 30. The unit consists of 30 beds, providing care for adults and geriatrics. Candidates should be prepared for a variety of patient diagnosis, including neurological disorders and elective surgeries. Experience in trauma care or specific facilities is not required. All lab work is expected to be scheduled promptly following contract signing. Travelers are first to float based on unit needs. Proof of flu vaccination is required with submission for employment. Modules and training are non-billable and completed annually. References must be from a supervisor level.
