License: Active nursing license

Certifications: BLS (AHA), IV certification required (must be obtained during onboarding if not already certified)

Must-Have: Must be willing to float to units where experienced.

Description: This position is located in a rural area with limited housing options and public transportation. Candidates must have their own transportation. Observe residents on a continuing basis and alert to changes in their mental and physical well-being. Notify the Supervisor of pertinent observations and discuss the need to notify the physician. Receive Resident Status Reports from the off-going shift and provide a detailed report to the on-coming shift about each resident's status and events. Accurately receive, transcribe, and carry out physician's orders. Administer medications and treatments as ordered by the physician and document appropriately via a computerized system. Order and maintain all pharmaceuticals for the unit. Supervise nursing assistants in accordance with licensing requirements. Assign and measure nursing staff's resident care, ensuring it aligns with their abilities and scope of practice. Accompany the physician on resident rounds to address medical needs and facilitate communication. Administer oxygen and manage gastrostomy/jejunostomy feedings according to policy. Perform wound care and possess knowledge of wound vacs. Conduct regular unit duties, such as checking appointments for the day, therapy schedules, and ensuring documentation is maintained. Monitor nursing assistant documentation and oversee infection control practices to ensure a clean and hazard-free unit. Report any problems to the Nursing Supervisor while encouraging nursing assistants to share their observations. Administer, discharge, and transfer residents, completing necessary documentation and notifications. Maintain consistent communication with the Nursing Supervisor regarding resident issues or staff concerns. Differentiate between acute and non-emergency problems and attend mandatory staff meetings. Communicate with residents' families to resolve concerns and notify them of new orders. Receive incoming calls and determine the appropriate response needed. Manage assigned units during shifts under the direction of the Nursing Supervisor. Follow regulations regarding the storage, usage, and documentation of controlled medications. Assist with the orientation of new nursing employees on assigned units. Communicate with leadership regarding continuing education needs of the nursing staff. Encourage and assign staff to attend in-service education meetings. Evaluate assigned nursing staff members per facility policy and recommend disciplinary actions as necessary.
