Mechanic Specialist, Level 1-4 (Fort Morgan, CO)

Responsibilities Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical equipment and auxiliary equipment. Perform heavy mechanical maintenance and replacement of reciprocating and turbine engines, compressors, prime movers, and auxiliary units. Assess the condition of engine and compressor components and perform required maintenance based on company standards and manufacturer specifications. Mentor teammates and other personnel on proper operation and maintenance of mechanical equipment. Identify, report, and assist in correcting safety and environmental concerns. Complete documentation and paperwork timely and accurately. Perform all work in compliance with company standards, procedures, and regulatory and tariff requirements. Demonstrate operational excellence and a commitment to safety. Maintained a dependable attendance and high performance level. Carry a company‑provided cell phone and be available to respond during working and non‑working hours. Be prepared for overtime, overnight travel, and after‑hour callouts as required. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Experience in mechanical maintenance of reciprocating/centrifugal compressor units, with preferred experience in turbine engines, natural gas compressors, and auxiliary engines. Valid driver license and satisfactory driving record. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Ability to operate forklifts and light industrial equipment. Ability to read and interpret company policies, O&M manuals, and blueprints. Basic computer skills (MS Office, operating systems, company software) and trainability to custom applications. Basic math skills. Excellent communication and customer‑focus skills. Teamwork, adherence to work rules, and flexibility in work schedules. Administrative responsibilities such as parts ordering, timesheet entry, and vehicle maintenance. Willingness to travel overnight, work overtime, and respond to call‑outs. Commitment to Kinder Morgan core values. Physical Demands Manual dexterity, visual acuity, and ability to lift, pull, push, and carry up to 50 lbs. Ability to exert up to 100 lbs. of physical force and perform extended standing, walking, kneeling, bending, and squatting. Ability to twist head and back for extended periods. Work in confined spaces, on ladders, catwalks, and platforms. Ability to negotiate slopes, ditches, and adverse weather conditions. Availability for 24/7 callouts except during company‑sponsored paid time off. Up to 50% overnight travel away from the reporting location. Must pass a DOT drug screen and complete a background check before employment. Compensation USD $36.00 – $50.00 per hour.
