Registered Nurse – Per Diem The City of Hope seeks a skilled Registered Nurse to provide critical care nursing services in a dynamic, shift‑based environment. As a per diem RN, you will be assigned to cover census fluctuations, provide flexible staffing, and support complex patient care in a variety of clinical areas. Responsibilities Maintain competencies and cross‑train; staff assigned each shift for census fluctuations or replacement periods. Assume responsibility for the professional clinical registered nurse role and position‑specific requirements of the assigned clinical area. Provide flexible staffing to meet patient‑care needs (refer to CRC Guidelines and Expectations). Interpret and operate cardiac and other invasive/noninvasive monitors; recognize normal/abnormal rhythms, trends, and institute appropriate interventions. Attend in‑house codes and rapid response calls as required. Caring for patients with complex needs, including hemodynamically compromised and mechanically ventilated patients. Initiate and maintain complex IV therapy, including thrombolytic administration, vasoactive medications, central IV catheters, dialysis catheters, & arterial lines. Use less invasive, life‑supporting modalities such as BiPAP, ETCO2, arterial pressure‑based CO/CI & SVO2 monitor, and core temperature monitors. Work scheduled shifts from 7:00p.m. to 7:00a.m. Qualifications 1‑2 years of critical care experience. Experience in one or more of: Intensive Care Unit, Step Down, Stem Cell, or Emergency Department Telemetry competency. Ability to read and operate cardiac monitor; recognize normal/abnormal rhythms and institute appropriate interventions. Graduate of NLNAC or CCNE School of Nursing, and licensed in the state of IL. Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association must be maintained while in this position. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification (as appropriate for population served).
