Medical Record SpecialistPacific Grove Hospital in Riverside, CA, is a leader in behavioral healthcare, providing superior healthcare treatment to the people, communities, and military installations we serve. We are a private inpatient 68 bed acute psychiatric facility with out-patient services, dedicated to the treatment of behavioral health and substance abuse services. Pacific Grove Hospital is proud to be a part of the Acadia Healthcare family.We are seeking a Medical Record Specialist to assist with maintaining medical record integrity through filing, assembling, analysis, and retrieving confidential patient records.The schedule for this position is 6am-2:30pm and 8am-4:30pm. Your schedule will rotate week to week on this schedule. This will be a schedule of 24 hours per week.Pay range: $25-29 DOEPacific Grove Hospital offers the following benefit package for benefit-eligible staff:Competitive wagesPaid time off (vacation, sick, & personal days)8 paid HolidaysMedical, Dental, and Vision insuranceFSA and HSA plans availableCompany paid life insuranceEmployee Assistance Program401k with annual matchEmployee Discount ProgramEssential Functions:Prepare and assemble medical records.Organize and analyze medical records for accuracy and completeness.Identify, track, and enter practitioner deficiencies in Medhost.Pull charts as requested for audits, peer review, readmissions, HBIPS processing and route to appropriate area or department.Ensure files are stored in the designated area according to storage procedures.Maintain and search computerized medical records.Maintain chart control, access, and storage in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations.Process medical records requests according to policy and procedure.Scan records to contract coders for processing, when applicable.Assist with HIM department audits including HBIPS, CMS Quality Measures, and concurrent reviews.Pick up discharge records from patient units.Assemble new admission folders, if applicable.Print and deliver medical records forms to patient units.Search and print dictated reports from computerized transcription system.Purge and inventory medical records for off-site storage.Promotes quality improvement, staff and patient safety, and cultural diversity through department operations and by personal performance.Education/Experience/Skill Requirements:High School diploma or equivalent required.Three or more years' experience in psychiatric setting or combination of education and experience necessary.Licenses/Designations/Certifications:RHIT or RHIA preferred.We are committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all applicants for employment regardless of an individual's characteristics protected by applicable state, federal, and local laws.
