How you make a difference
The Mental Health Technician (MHT)is an entry-level position thatprovidesdirect care to a specific patient population. TheMHTworksunder the supervision ofthelicensed nursing staff and theirdesigneestoprovidestandard and routine psychiatric and medical nursingassistanceservices. The services are provided as part ofthe overall planof care and within the facility's standards, policies, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Assistslicensed nursing personnel with direct patient services, including observing behaviors and activities of daily living,providing assistanceand support, and completing assigned tasks.
Monitors patients placed on suicide watch and takes and records vital signs.
Participates in specific treatment interventions, such as coping skills and anger management, as assigned.
Demonstrates basic knowledge of therapeutic communication, psychiatric recovery, and rehabilitation skills.
Maintains professional development through in-service education, workshops, conferences, and self-study to stay current in the field.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Experience
- One (1) year direct care experience in a mental health setting.
Licenses/Certifications
- None required.
