Food Service Worker

Assume responsibilities in the food preparation and cashier duties as directed by the Child Nutrition Manager and/or designee. Follow and perform routine food preparation and service to ensure a high standard of safety, cleanliness and efficiency of the cafeteria operations. Adhere to federal and state laws, as well as, district policies, procedures, and regulations. Essential functions include assisting in food preparation and cashier duties, operating kitchen equipment, cleaning and sanitizing work areas, serving meals, following cleaning schedules, performing basic math, following safety procedures, washing pots and pans, unpacking supplies, demonstrating punctuality, reliability, integrity, cooperation and efficient use of time, reading, writing and following directions, and attending the work site. Other responsibilities include participating in professional development activities, maintaining a professional code of ethics, and performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications include possessing a current Food Handler's Card or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment, the ability to learn and follow prescribed preparation methods, reading, writing and following directions in English, and a valid Texas/New Mexico driver's license/ID card subject to the district's drug and alcohol screening policy and regulation and must be insurable by the district's auto liability insurance carrier.
