Job Summary As the Grocery Department Manager, you will oversee sales achievement and profitability, providing leadership to department personnel. You will maintain product quality and levels while ensuring compliance with food safety practices and promoting exceptional customer service. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Manage hiring, training, and development of team members; assign tasks and manage performance. Analyze sales data to predict future outcomes and manage inventory to ensure optimal stock levels. Maintain and enhance sales performance, financial results, product quality, and public relations. Conduct quality inspections and ensure compliance with food safety standards. Encourage product sales through effective merchandising and customer engagement. Ensure organized stock conditions on retail displays and shelves. Manage inventory during deliveries, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Open/close the store as required, ensuring a welcoming shopping environment. Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries and resolving complaints. Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety procedures. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong knowledge of grocery department operations. Proficient with store inventory management systems. Intermediate skills with scheduling software. Ability to operate manual and electric pallet jacks, forklifts, and safety equipment. Strong leadership and motivational skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Willingness to learn new technologies and processes. Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays. Proactive in identifying and addressing safety hazards. Education, Experience and Qualifications High school diploma or GED; must have 2+ years of relevant experience or equivalent education. Minimum age of 18 years required. 21+ years of age to drive for company business. Food Handler certification required. Manager Food Safety certification required. AML certification required. Fuel Operator C training required. HIPAA certification required. TABC/LACT/AATC certification as applicable. Physical Demands Regularly requires close vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus. Constantly required to stand or walk; Frequently required to handle and lift objects up to 40 lbs. Occasionally may lift objects up to 75 lbs. Attendance is essential. Work Context and Environment Primarily performed in a retail setting. May be exposed to varying temperatures and cleaning agents.
