In the privacy space, NYSTEC is considered a trusted advisor, providing subject matter expertise and connecting the dots for our clients. Serving as a privacy analyst, your day-to-day role as a NYSTEC consultant will support the New York State Department of Health.You must have a passion for data privacy and regulatory compliance and a deep knowledge of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), as well as New York State and federal privacy laws and regulations. You will work independently and with teams to develop solutions to complex problems.Key ResponsibilitiesReview policies, regulations, or proposals against existing NYS or federal requirementsManage the day-to-day legal and policy requests assignedEvaluate proposed activities, including references to applicable laws or regulationsCreate project work plans for long-term or multi-step initiativesManage data use and business associate agreementsFacilitate meetings with stakeholders from across our client communityAnalyze business needs balanced against privacy requirements and best practicesCollaborate as part of a team to oversee and implement privacy- and security-related best practices for NYSTEC clientsAbout you:Required QualificationsExcellent analytic capabilities and exemplary skills in developing and managing stakeholder relationshipsExceptional privacy knowledge and experienceGeneral information security knowledgeNew York State and federal health policy experienceExceptional written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills and the ability to manage and develop key relationships with colleagues and clients through collaborative thinking and a strong customer focusProficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite of applicationsExperience and demonstrated comfort level in verbal, written, and in-person communicationsPreferred/Desired QualificationsSecurity and privacy certifications from accredited organizations, such as the International Information System Security Certification Consortium (ISC2) or the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP)Knowledge of the New York State Medicaid program and its systems, data, and usesExpertise in public health, health information, or security and privacy policies and standards, such as National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) 800-53 and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) Acceptable Risk Safeguards (ARS)Masters degreeEducation and ExperienceBachelor's degree and five years of related experience in privacy, law, or healthcare policyAn equivalent combination of advanced education, training, and experience will be considered The target base salary for this position is $84,497.00 to $109,846.00 per year.
