Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) InstructorKey Responsibilities:Explicit Instruction: Deliver clear, structured lessons using explicit instruction to ensure all students understand essential CNA concepts, procedures, and patient care techniques.Curriculum Development and Implementation: Design and implement a standards-based CNA curriculum aligned with state nurse aide training requirements and certification exams.Lesson Planning and Preparation: Prepare dynamic and relevant lesson plans integrating hands-on skills labs, simulations, and real-world clinical scenarios (e.g., vital signs, infection control, patient hygiene, mobility).Safety and Compliance: Ensure a safe learning environment aligned with OSHA standards, HIPAA regulations, infection control protocols, and state health department guidelines.Program of Study and Schedule of Instruction: Develop and follow a structured program of study aligned with state-required instructional hours and competency requirements for CNA certification.CTE Curriculum Software: Utilize instructional and assessment platforms such as SchoolsPLP, PLCMS, and Rise Up (or similar). Maintain accurate student records, competencies, and participation data.Student Development and Support:Career Counseling: Guide students in exploring healthcare careers, including CNA roles, nursing pathways, and other allied health professions.Student Engagement: Foster a collaborative, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment promoting compassion, professionalism, and patient-centered care.Student Progress Tracking: Monitor clinical competencies, assess practical and written skills, and provide timely feedback to support student success.Classroom Management: Maintain an organized and professional clinical lab environment that mirrors real healthcare settings.ProgressBook/Gradebook: Maintain accurate gradebooks, track skill mastery, and coordinate state testing, clinical requirements, and credentialing processes.Program Management and Development:Partnership Building: Establish partnerships with local hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, and healthcare employers to support clinical rotations, internships, and job placement.Lab/Clinical Skills Management: Oversee the setup and maintenance of CNA labs including hospital beds, mannequins, medical supplies, and simulation equipment.Clinical Coordination: Organize and supervise required clinical experiences in accordance with state CNA training requirements.Safety Inspections: Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards in lab and clinical environments.Resource Management: Maintain inventory of medical supplies, PPE, and instructional materials; order supplies as needed.Uniform and PPE Management: Manage student scrubs, uniforms, and personal protective equipment required for lab and clinical work.Enrollment: Support recruitment and maintain program enrollment of 10 or more students annually.Professional Development and Collaboration:Professional Growth: Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with healthcare practices, CNA instruction standards, and emerging medical trends.Collaboration: Work collaboratively with school staff, healthcare partners, and fellow CTE instructors to enhance program quality.Advisory Councils: Participate in business advisory committees and healthcare workforce groups to align program outcomes with industry needs.TBT Meetings: Analyze student data, monitor program outcomes, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.Licensure and Certification: Maintain CNA instructor certification and stay current with state licensing requirements; communicate progress with administration.CTE Compliance: Ensure all documentation (clinical hours, competencies, site visits, certifications) meets state and CTE program standards.General School Responsibilities:School Mission: Embrace and promote the mission and philosophy of the Academy.Student-Centric Approach: Provide a supportive, hands-on learning environment centered on student development and career readiness.Professionalism: Model integrity, inclusiveness, and real-world work ethics.Record Keeping: Keep accurate records of attendance, grades, certifications, and discipline.Confidentiality: Adhere to privacy laws and school policies regarding student data.School Activities: Participate in staff meetings, open houses, and other school-sponsored events as directed by the Principal.Policy Compliance: Follow all district, state, and school policies and procedures.Requirements:Qualifications:Hold a current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) licenseMinimum of two years of nursing experience, including at least one year in long-term care or geriatric nursing (state-specific requirement may vary).Must meet state requirements to serve as a CNA Instructor.Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred (BSN strongly preferred in many programs).Prior teaching, training, or clinical supervision experience preferred.Current CPR certification required.Knowledge of state nurse aide training regulations and competency testing standards.Strong communication, organization, and instructional skills.Experience with instructional technology and student management systems preferred.Positive, student-centered mindset and commitment to healthcare career development.Must pass all required background checks, fingerprinting, and health screenings (including TB test).
