Ambulatory Clinical Pharmacy Specialist-Anticoagulation

Position Pharmacy Clinical Specialist – Anticoagulation Department (Ambulatory Pharmacy) Schedule Exempt, Per Diem Position Summary Under the direction of the Clinical Manager, ensures optimum patient outcomes related to medication use by preventing or resolving drug‑related issues and optimizing the drug therapy of patients. Provides drug information to patients and families, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. Integrally involved in education of pharmacists, residents, and students. Serves as a resource and drug expert in one of seven specialty areas. Strives to increase knowledge through research and writing activities. May also be involved in coordinating the acquisition, distribution, and control of drug therapy for patients under the care of the pharmacist. Job Requirements Education Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy and at least five years of pertinent work experience. Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy and post‑graduate training, with at least three years of pertinent work experience. Doctorate Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy with post‑graduate training or at least two years of relevant work experience. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Work requires licensure to practice pharmacy in Massachusetts and/or eligibility for licensure in Massachusetts by the hire date. Applicant may be licensed in another state and pending reciprocation. Knowledge and Skills Deep knowledge of medications, their effects, drug interactions, medical procedures, therapies, diagnosis and disease states. Effective interpersonal skills to interact with hospital staff, patients, families/visitors, physicians, colleagues, and others. Ability to multi‑task, prioritize essential tasks and meet deadlines. Organized work style and ability to keep well‑written documentation. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Additional language skills a plus. Self‑management skills, self‑starter and strong work ethic. Process improvement skills and acumen. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and web browsers. Compensation and Benefits Compensation Range: $43.03–$62.50 per hour.
