Position Summary The Deli Cook at Uwajimaya prioritizes excellent customer service by performing various cooking tasks—boiling, steaming, deep frying, and preparation of food. He/she assembles items such as sandwiches and sushi while maintaining high service standards. Key Responsibilities Provide excellent customer service and maintain a friendly, approachable demeanor. Prep food products for cooking in all Deli areas. Cook ready‑to‑eat items following instructions and recipes. Ensure adherence to health department and company policies for a safe environment. Prepare and package deli condiments for hot and cold cases. Wrap, label, and price products accurately. Display prepared foods attractively in hot and cold cases. Assist in receiving and unloading merchandise, ensuring accuracy and quality. Monitor inventory levels and inform management of low inventory or spoilage. Assist customers in serving food items and control product shrinkage. Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing deli department. Other duties as assigned. Pay Starting Pay: $22.44/hr (depending on experience). Pay Range: $22.44 – $27.46/hr. Employment Eligibility Uwajimaya participates in E‑Verify to confirm employment eligibility. Qualifications Must be at least 18 years old. Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; may require up to 1 year of specialized training. Food Handler’s Card required. Prior retail experience and knowledge of Asian products preferred. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Basic math proficiency, familiarity with ten‑key/calculator, and comfort using computers. Flexible schedule to accommodate varying shifts.
