Key duties include creating detailed 2D drawings, updating plans, and leading design portions of projects using AutoCAD and related software. Responsibilities Use AutoCAD daily to update or develop detailed plans and drawings for new construction, renovations, and reconfigurations. Develop detailed 2D drawings including FF&E, architectural, electrical, and mechanical building systems. Support multiple projects of varying size, complexity, and intensity. Review furniture proposals and maintain working knowledge of industry standards. Prepare and present specifications to stakeholders. Assist in construction administration, such as site inspections, to ensure proper installation and compliance with design specifications. Work with client stakeholders to determine initial goals and requirements for spaces. Keep the client and Lead Designer apprised of project status. Demonstrate analytical and critical thinking while adhering to established standards. Use advanced A&D professional skills to solve challenges and produce design solutions. Safeguard sensitive information in accordance with federal regulations and procedures. Collaborate with project managers, spaces planners, and other stakeholders to ensure design cohesiveness and project goals. Be accountable for assigned projects and tasks from beginning to end. Prepare sketches or visual aids to demonstrate design intent to clients. Ensure client satisfaction. Maintain current knowledge of trends, materials, techniques, and developments in A&D. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum of 8 years in institutional architecture, interior design, or space planning. Top Secret clearance. Expertise in construction documentation processes. Knowledge of building codes, ADA, and industry standard practices. Strong teamwork and communication skills, both verbal and written. Organizational, problem‑solving, and project‑management skills. High attention to detail and self‑motivation. Ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure. Adaptability to changing project requirements and deadlines. Ability to generate and present multiple design solutions. Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Office Suite. Institutional or government experience is preferred. Progress toward NCIDQ or NCARB certification is a plus. Experience with TRIRIGA and space management tools. Knowledge of commercial furniture and dealership experience. Bachelor’s degree in interior design or related field. Strong design portfolio with emphasis on presentation and technical skills.
