Job Title Nutrition Services Department Trainer - District Wide (Includes Partner Districts) Job Summary The Nutrition Services Department Trainer will be responsible for assisting the Department in providing complete and detailed training for assigned staff, focusing mostly on kitchen managers. The Department Trainer will develop and implement training programs and training materials that provide a full scope of training for all positions within the department. The Department Trainer will also assist with staff professional development days and work as part of the CSB team to make decisions affecting the kitchens. FTE/Hours per Day 8 hours per day, 48 weeks per year, Monday - Friday 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent 2-year college degree in culinary arts, food service or nutrition required, 4 year college degree in food service, dietetics or nutrition preferred Certified Food Protection Manager from the State of Minnesota or equivalent preferred Minimum of three (3) years of commercial kitchen experience Three (3) years in a supervisory or training role preferred Two years of school nutrition services preferred. Salary Range As per the Coordinators, Supervisors & Specialists 2026-2027 Terms & Conditions Salary Schedule, $69,596 (C41) is the starting salary. A generous insurance plan is including medical, dental, vision, life and LTD insurance. We also offer a 3.5% 403b employer match and a pension through MN PERA. Duties and Responsibilities Provide instruction, guidance, and training for employees working for Nutrition Services using active listening and encourage, acknowledge, and validate the trainee's experience. Modify training methods and techniques to accommodate the learning styles of employees. Develop training materials for nutrition services workers, kitchen managers, assistant kitchen managers, and backup to the managers. Develop and present training materials for the Back-to-School workshop. Become a ServSafe proctor to teach and proctor ServSafe classes and exams. Lead by example and make corrections to staff as needed. Participate in CSB meetings. Provide perspective from the kitchen to help with decision-making. Assist the District Chef with menu planning and provide feedback based on storage, cooking equipment, and serving space. Create tools for kitchen managers to use, including order guides and cheat sheets. Assist the District Chef with inventory control. Substitute for managers or cooks as needed, including supervising and directing support staff. Create usage reports as requested. Assist with catering as needed. Assist with the planning and implementation of promotions. Oversee the summer feeding program sites, including making necessary site visits and audits. Participate in interviewing and onboarding of new hires. Keep current on changes in the district's Nutrition Services policies and procedures, as well as school nutrition in general Perform other duties as assigned. Skills and Abilities Knowledge of food production and safe use of equipment. Experience training staff in a kitchen environment.
