Speech Language Pathologist
Provides speech and language services that support students' communication development and access to the educational environment. Conducts evaluations, develops and implements individualized services, and collaborates with educators and families to ensure students with communication disorders receive appropriate support in accordance with federal and state regulations.
Valid Ohio license issued by the Ohio Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. Valid Ohio Department of Education and Workforce pupil services license for Speech-Language Pathology. Knowledge of federal and state special education laws and procedures. Knowledge of speech and language disorders and evidence-based therapeutic practices. Ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, teachers, and service providers. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to use technology and digital systems for documentation, communication, and instructional purposes. Meets all mandated health requirements. Documented evidence of a clear criminal record.

Screening and Evaluation
- Conducts speech and language screenings in accordance with district Child Find procedures and state guidelines.
- Performs comprehensive speech and language evaluations using multiple sources of data including formal and informal assessments, observations, and student performance data.
- Contributes to Evaluation Team Reports (ETRs) for students suspected of having communication disorders in compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Reviews existing evaluation data and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to determine eligibility and service needs.
Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Develops, implements, and monitors Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for eligible students.
- Provides speech and language services aligned with IEP goals and educational needs.
- Monitors student progress toward IEP goals using data-based progress monitoring practices.
- Prepares and submits progress reports to parents and guardians in accordance with district and state timelines.
Therapy and Instruction
- Provides speech and language therapy services addressing articulation, fluency, voice, language, pragmatics, and other communication disorders.
- Implements evidence-based instructional strategies that support communication development within educational settings.
- Integrates assistive technology and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems when appropriate.
- Supports students in developing communication skills necessary for academic success and social interaction.
- Maintains therapy materials, assistive technology, and equipment used to support student services.
Collaboration and Consultation
- Collaborates with teachers, intervention specialists, and related service providers to support communication development across educational settings.
- Serves as a resource to staff regarding strategies and accommodations that support students with communication needs.
- Participates in IEP meetings, evaluation meetings, and multidisciplinary team discussions.
- Communicates regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and strategies to support communication development.
- Coordinates with community service providers when appropriate to support student needs.
Integrated Multi-Tiered System of Supports (IMTSS)
- Participates in the district's Integrated Multi-Tiered System of Supports (IMTSS) framework to address communication needs that impact academic performance and social development.
- Collaborates with staff to analyze student data and recommend communication-related interventions.
- Provides consultation and support to staff implementing Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions involving communication skills.
Compliance and Documentation
- Maintains accurate and timely documentation of evaluations, therapy services, progress monitoring data, and compliance records.
- Ensures services are delivered in accordance with state and federal special education requirements.
- Maintains confidentiality of student information in accordance with FERPA and district policies.
Professional Responsibilities
- Participates in professional development activities to remain current with research-based practices and regulatory requirements.
- Participates in school activities such as conferences, meetings, and parent engagement events as assigned.
- Collaborates with colleagues to support school and district initiatives that promote student success.
Other Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Upholds board policies and follows administrative procedures.
- Promotes a favorable image of the school district.
- Respects personal privacy. Maintains the confidentiality of privileged information.
- Reports evidence of suspected child abuse as required by law.
- Takes precautions to ensure student safety. Does not leave students unsupervised. Reports unauthorized persons or suspicious circumstances immediately.
- Supervises non-classroom activities when assigned.
- Complete required training by appropriate deadlines (Vector, Gifted, Science of Reading, etc.)
- Accepts responsibility for personal decisions and conduct. Strives to develop rapport and serve as a positive role model for others.
- Performs other specific job-related duties as directed.

- Uses data to inform instructional decisions and monitor student progress.
- Maintains confidentiality of student and district information in accordance with FERPA and district policies.
- Responds effectively to changing conditions and unexpected situations.
- Maintains reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Attends required meetings, trainings, and work assignments as directed.
Working Conditions:
- Potential exposure to blood-borne pathogens and communicable illnesses consistent with school environments.
- Interaction with students, parents, or visitors who may be experiencing behavioral, emotional, or communication challenges.
- Occasional evening or weekend work to attend meetings, conferences, or school events as assigned.
- Occasional exposure to moderate noise levels typical of school environments.
- Extended periods of standing, walking, and computer use.
- Frequent interruptions and shifting priorities throughout the workday.
- Regular requirement to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, read, reach, bend, kneel, and perform other physical movements necessary to perform job duties.
- Occasional requirement to lift, carry, push, or move materials and equipment up to approximately 50 pounds.
- Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not include formal supervisory responsibilities.
