The Engineering Tech III will:

I. Perform laboratory testing of pavement markings (thermoplastics and traffic paints),

admixtures, soils, water, cements, slags, fly ashes and their related products.

2. Be responsible for data entry, data analysis, review and preparation of testing reports.

The following are some examples of the knowledge, skill and abilities required for the position:

a. Apply engineering principles, practices and methods to provide laboratory data sets on statewide

construction activities.

b. Apply knowledges of construction materials and computer software such as Microsoft Excel,

Access, and Word to effectively support CTD's business processes to ensure quality assurance of

construction materials in the Chemistry Laboratory.

c. Knowledge of algebra, geometry, and basic mathematical calculations.

d. Ability to physically perform essential duties.

e. Basic knowledge of specific construction materials such as cements, concrete, soils and water

samples, concrete admixtures and pavement marking materials such as thermoplastics and traffic

paints.

f. Ability to establish, maintain and sustain effective communication and customer focused working

relationships with employees from both within OMT Divisions and other statewide construction

project stakeholders

g. A minimum of three years of experience in technical engineer related work in the areas of

material testing, engineer computations, and/or computer usage directly related to the specific

work assignment.

h. Can substitute education in an engineering or science curriculum at an accredited junior

college, college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours per year for up to three

years of the required experience. Lab experience in the biology, chemistry, natural sciences is

preferred.
