About the Role

The Company is seeking a Chief Development Officer (CDO) to join its Executive Leadership Team. The CDO will be responsible for leading the organization's philanthropic growth, developing and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy that supports its mission and long-term sustainability. This includes leading a multi-channel fundraising program, managing a portfolio of high-capacity donors, and building a high-performing development team. The successful candidate will work closely with the CEO, Board of Directors, and external stakeholders to align fundraising efforts with the organization's strategic priorities and will be a visible ambassador for the company. Candidates for the CDO position at the company should have significant senior fundraising leadership experience within a national nonprofit or similarly complex mission-driven organization. Essential qualifications include a proven track record in developing and executing comprehensive fundraising strategies, as well as the ability to personally secure six- and seven-figure gifts. The role requires strong executive leadership skills, experience in building fundraising infrastructure, and a commitment to the company's mission and values. Experience in both 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) fundraising, particularly in politically nuanced or bipartisan environments, is preferred. The ideal candidate will also have a background in leading within a fully remote or geographically distributed organization and a demonstrated commitment to the values of inclusion and respect.
