About the Role
The WISe Counselor provides comprehensive therapeutic support services assisting children, youth, and families cope with complex behavior and mental health needs. In a team framework the therapist works in close collaboration with a Wraparound Facilitator and Parent /Youth Partner to identify goals, assess needs, and coordinate access to community resources. The Counselor will conduct outreach to clients and families in their homes, school, and community.
What You'll Do
- Complete mental health intake assessment (including Child Adolescent Needs and Strengths - CANS) and secure authorization for treatment. CANS certification required within 30 days of hire.
- Develop individualized treatment and service plans with the child and family to best address mental health needs.
- Conduct program orientation explaining the role of WISe Therapist.? Provide ongoing psycho-education to clients and their families by meeting them in and out of the office; develop the recovery plan; provide educational information in conjunction with direct service providers related to treatments, procedures, medications, and continuing service requirements.
- Participate in WISe Child & Family Team Meetings for each client, contributing to the development of the Cross-System Care Plan and Team Safety Plan. May include facilitation of the child and family team.
- Provides Crisis Management Services and coordination after hours, as needed. Participates in crisis rotation as assigned.
- Partner with the family in order to assist them in utilizing the resources offered by formal and informal sources within their community.
- Complete all documentation in keeping with Wraparound fidelity guidelines, agency policies, and State and Federal requirements.
- Create and practice a plan for aftercare supports and response post WISe involvement.
- Assists the client in strengthening connections to informal, natural supports such as friends, extended family members, community groups, etc.
- Attends meetings related to the client’s involvement in other child-serving systems, including school, juvenile justice, child welfare, primary care, or other related systems. Serves as an advocate for the client in these meetings.
- Works closely with Wraparound Facilitators and Peer/Parent Partners to make and monitor applicable referrals. May accompany clients to access these referrals.
- Works with team to monitor delivery of care by reviewing client records; overseeing completion of necessary agency and county forms, documenting care; identifying progress toward desired care outcomes; modify and adapt recovery plan to address barriers; review the recovery plan with clients in conjunction with the other service providers.
- Implements team recommendations and tasks assigned at Child and Family team meetings
- Evaluates outcomes of care with the interdisciplinary team by measuring intervention effectiveness with the team.
- Utilize Evidence Based Practices to move a client toward readiness to engage in ongoing therapy.
- Provide therapeutic groups relevant to WISe enrolled clients.
- Provide consult to child-serving clinicians across the agency, particularly related to high-need use with multi-system involvement, as assigned.
- Provide and participate in consult to fellow WISe team members regarding mandated reporting or duty to warn situations.
- Attend trainings relevant to Therapist role as they are available and assigned by supervisor
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Maintain a focus on strengths, needs and capacities of the child and family.
- Meet and engage the family with compassion, support for their recovery and encouraging the family through their recovery. Meet a minimum of 1 hour, weekly with every Youth/Family on your caseload.
- Accurately complete documentation in appropriate timeframes and recorded in the Electronic Health Record.
- Provide required reporting for alleged abuse or neglect, parental relapse with drugs or alcohol, safety plan not followed, new safety issues identified, severe behavioral incidents, running away, or situation requiring medical attention or hospitalization.

Work Environment
This position is performed primarily in typical office and community settings without substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Regular travel is required to provide services in clients’ homes and other community settings.
Physical Demands
This position requires the ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently. The role requires regular sitting, standing, walking, speaking, and hearing, as well as repetitive use of the hands, wrists, and fingers for routine tasks. The position may also require sitting, crouching, or kneeling while providing services in community settings.

- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., social work, psychology, counseling).
- Ability to work flexible hours (evenings, nights, weekends)
- Operate from a strengths-based perspective.
- Possess good written and verbal communication skills and excellent documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Ability to represent the agency in a professional manner within the community and develop collaborative community relationships.
Certificates/Licenses:
- Possess valid WA State driver’s license and clean driving abstract.
- Successfully pass background check applicable to position.
- Eligible for Agency-Affiliated Counselor registration required.
