So why is someone above you still making the calls? At most companies, a project manager runs a slice of the job while the decisions happen somewhere overhead. Here’s how it works at QMH: sales hands you a signed contract and a deposit. From that moment, the project is yours — and we mean all of it. What 'all of it' means: You run the subcontractors. When schedules break, you source new ones. Your call. You deal directly with the factory, transportation, permitting, and building codes. You own the client relationship. When something goes wrong on‑site, you're the one who shows up and fixes it. When clients come back for their next project — they do — you scope it, estimate it, and write the proposal. Your client, your numbers. You read the drawings and CAD, and you understand what we're building and why. You enforce the contract — with authority behind you when you do. Projects run $50K to $7M, most in the $300–500K range, managed from our Rancho Cucamonga office. The money, plainly. Base: $80,000–$110,000, depending on experience. On top of that, a year-end bonus tied to two things: whether your projects made their margin, and whether they delivered right. Not company politics. Not someone else's division. Our clients are national, but our delivery footprint is local — about 95% of projects put site visits within an hour of the office. Overnight travel: fewer than 10 days a year. You'll sleep in your own bed. Straight talk about growth. We won't sell you a ladder — there isn't one. What there is: a range. New PMs prove out on projects around $300–500K. The ones who deliver earn the bigger, more complex work — up to $7M. Your growth is measured in what we trust you with, and your bonus grows with it. Our current PMs average about six years with us. We think that says more than a career‑path diagram would. Who does well here: You've delivered commercial, industrial, or material handling projects and can walk us through them in numbers — budgets, schedules, what went sideways, what you did about it. You read drawings and CAD fluently, and you can turn them into a take-off, an estimate, and a proposal a client signs. Clients ask for you by name, and you've got the references to prove it. You'd rather have full authority and full accountability than a fancier title with neither. No degree required. We hire delivery records, not diplomas.
