Job Description Senior Accountant , New Canaan, Connecticut Assist with the Company's US and Canadian accounting functions. Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of the monthly close, in accordance with IFRS, for all the US and Canadian operations. Preparation of monthly journal entries for the U.S. and Canadian operations. Responsible for monthly account reconciliations for US and Canadian operations. On a monthly basis, assist with the preparation of the written commentary to the executive management group explaining the monthly results of the US and Canadian operations. This will be in comparison to budget as well as prior year. With the assistance of the applicable departments, ensure the accurate accounting for the Company's following accounts: insurance costs and applicable liabilities geological drilling projects & costs and various accrual accounts. Assist with the timely and accurate maintenance, preparation and issuance of plant and corporate cost statements, including review of the monthly statements with the operations department to ensure accuracy of the ongoing production. Assist with the year end audit for US and Canadian operations. Assist with the preparation of audited financial statements and related footnotes, including any new footnote requirements. Must have a Bachelor's Degree in either Accounting or Finance. CPA. Four or more years of accounting experience, familiar with accounting - month-end close processes as well as general accounting principles. A mix of public and private accounting experience. Strong knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, internal controls and financial reporting. Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills. Ability to multi-task and deal with heavy volume of requests with tight time frame parameters. Must have strong working knowledge with accounting systems and Microsoft Office applications. Ability to work effectively with associates at all levels within the organization. Big 4 is a must. Experience in the mining or manufacturing industries. Knowledge of IFRS standards. Prior experience with systems implementations. Knowledge of the IFS and Navision accounting system, preferred but nor required. Experience in the mining and manufacturing industries.
