Laundry and Sanitation Attendant

We are seeking dependable Laundry and Sanitation Attendants to support daily operations within an active animal shelter environment. This position is responsible for keeping laundry, dishes, supplies, equipment, and work areas clean, organized, and properly sanitized. The role is ideal for someone with experience in laundry, custodial, housekeeping, janitorial, dishwashing, food service sanitation, or similar hands-on work.

This position does not involve direct animal care, handling, restraint, or feeding; however, candidates must be comfortable working in an animal shelter setting and being near dogs, cats, and other sheltered animals.

Wash, sanitize, disinfect, and store animal food and water bowls.

Operate commercial dishwashing equipment and manually wash items when needed.

Collect, sort, wash, dry, fold, and distribute animal blankets, towels, bedding, and other linens.

Operate commercial washers, dryers, and related laundry equipment safely.

Inspect linens and remove items that are worn, damaged, contaminated, or no longer usable.

Restock clean bedding, towels, dishes, and supplies throughout the facility.

Keep laundry areas, dishwashing stations, storage areas, carts, shelving, sinks, equipment, and workspaces clean and organized.

Handle and dispose of contaminated materials according to safety and sanitation procedures.

Monitor laundry and sanitation supply levels and notify a supervisor when supplies need to be replenished.

Wear required personal protective equipment and follow all safety, sanitation, and infection-control procedures.

Experience in commercial laundry, custodial, housekeeping, janitorial, dishwashing, food service sanitation, facilities cleaning, or similar work is preferred.

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Comfortable working independently and staying productive in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Comfortable working with cleaning chemicals, detergents, disinfectants, and soiled materials.

Reliable attendance and strong attention to detail.

Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

This role is performed in a commercial laundry and sanitation area within an active animal shelter. Candidates may be exposed to animal odors, soiled laundry, biological materials on dishes or bedding, pet hair, dander, cleaning chemicals, wet floors, steam, humidity, heat, and noise from commercial laundry and dishwashing equipment.

Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach, grasp, lift, carry, push, pull, and perform repetitive hand movements throughout the shift. Must be able to safely lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
