Java Backend Developer

Job Summary:

Seeking a Java Backend Developer with 5+ years of relevant application development experience and strong experience in full-stack development. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Java, Ruby, and JavaScript, along with experience in DevOps technologies, cloud infrastructure, AWS administration, and modern software development practices. The candidate should also be comfortable using AI-assisted development tools and providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, maintain, and enhance application solutions using Java, Ruby, and JavaScript.

• Develop and support full-stack applications while applying sound software engineering practices.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to deliver scalable and maintainable software solutions.

• Support cloud infrastructure and platform operations activities as required.

• Administer and support AWS environments and related cloud services.

• Develop and maintain CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions.

• Work with DevOps technologies and contribute to automation and deployment processes.

• Support AWS EKS and Argo CD environments where applicable.

• Use AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot to improve software development productivity and quality.

• Coach and mentor junior engineers and support knowledge sharing across the team.

• Provide technical leadership and contribute to engineering decisions.

• Collaborate effectively with technical and cross-functional stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of relevant professional experience with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant professional experience.

• 5+ years of application development experience.

• 3+ years of full-stack application development experience.

• Strong experience with Java, Ruby, and JavaScript.

• Strong software engineering and object-oriented programming experience.

• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 6-10+ years of experience with Ruby or another object-oriented programming language.

• 2+ years of experience with GitHub Actions.

• Experience with cloud infrastructure or platform operations.

• Experience with AWS administration.

• Experience with DevOps technologies.

• Experience with AWS EKS and Argo CD.

• Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot.

• Experience coaching and mentoring junior engineers.

• Strong leadership and communication skills.
