Role Description The Intervention Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Columbus, OH, responsible for providing academic and behavioral support to diverse learners. Day-to-day tasks include developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), designing interventions, and monitoring student progress through data collection and regular assessments. The specialist collaborates with classroom teachers, counselors, and families to integrate supports into the arts and college prep curriculum, ensuring students can access and succeed in general education settings. The role involves providing direct instruction in small groups or one-on-one, adapting materials, coaching students in self-regulation and social-emotional skills, and maintaining thorough documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations. The Intervention Specialist also participates in team meetings, contributes to school-wide initiatives, and supports ACPA's inclusive and progressive culture. Qualifications Strong foundation in Education, including experience working with diverse learners and knowledge of individualized education planning and special education best practices. Applied Behavior Analysis and Behavioral Intervention skills to design, implement, and monitor effective strategies that support positive student behavior and engagement. Background in Psychology to understand student development, social-emotional needs, and evidence-based intervention approaches. Excellent Communication skills to collaborate with students, families, educators, and support staff, and to document plans and progress clearly and accurately. Relevant teaching or intervention specialist license/certification as required by the State of Ohio, or eligibility to obtain such credentials. Experience in project-based learning environments or arts-integrated curricula is beneficial. Ability to manage multiple cases, maintain detailed records, and use data to inform instructional and behavioral decisions.
